In response to community-wide interest for more sustainable landscaping information, the Atascadero Mutual Water Company is hosting a free Autumn Garden Festival and landscape symposium. Call 461-7217 x22 to reserve a seat!

Attend Rick’s mini-seminars “Creating a native lawn” at 12:30pm or “Planting under Oak trees” (20 min talks) at 2:00pm on Saturday, October 10th at the Colony House – 6600 Lewis Ave., Atascadero. There is also many other wonderful topics that will be presented by local experts. Come and join the fun!

There will be a Multiflora Garden Club plant sale benefiting local scholarships and free raffle and prizes!

Madrone will attend the Paso Robles Home Show on Saturday, August 29 & Sunday, August 30 at the Paso Robles Fairgrounds from 9:00am-5:00pm daily. You have a chance to win a beautiful stone fountain, so don’t be shy and show up to enter our drawing!

We will also conduct a seminar, Saturday, August 29th at 3:00pm on Sustainable Landscape Techniques and show you how you can have a beautiful colorful landscape and conserve water too!

Thanks to everyone for the positive comments about the video, “Central Coast Landscapes”. I guess it airs frequently on Public Access T.V. channel 2. If you’re in Atascadero, you may not have seen it. I heard it hasn’t been picked up for the Atascadero area. Calls to Atascadero Charter Cable requesting it’s inclusion in their schedule might be in order. But since you’re on our website, just click on the video at the left of the page (with man holding soil probe).

Madrone Landscapes recently concluded a three week exhibit at the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden, featuring a Daniel Mazawa design, entitled ” Break Inside the Box.” The exhibit showed various sustainable landscaping elements including:
-California Native and edible ornamental plants
-Permeable paving examples
-Drought-tolerant native turf substitute (Carex praegracilis)
-A solar-powered natural stone fountain
-Recycled wood bench and raised planters
