Born and raised in the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley, Megan’s childhood was spent running barefoot around and playing throughout the tiny town of Los Olivos with her older sister and her two dogs. As time went on, she found peace in sketching and painting while sitting on the roof of her home, where she could see the peaks of Figueroa Mountain. Coming from a family of campers, she took road trips throughout the US and Canada, she was able to see and explore incredible, vast landscapes full of wonder with her loved ones by her side. Years passed, and her love for nature and art grew into a passion for studying the natural sciences and design. From there, she made the natural leap into the landscape design field.
Megan graduated from Cal Poly, SLO with a degree in Landscape Architecture. While she was in school, she traveled abroad to Australia to further study one of her favorite subjects: coastal ecologies and their adjacent marine ecosystems. In the land down under, she found her “happy place” on various remote islands, covered in an endless blanket of stars.
When Megan came back to the Central Coast, she knew she’d never want to leave. She learned to surf, moved to Shell Beach, and found her “happy place” once more. Just over a month after she finished her degree, she found her second home at Madrone Landscapes – where she enjoys the challenge of creatively and sustainably bringing people and their environments together. Megan loves being a part of such a fun-loving, talented design-build team; and feels very lucky to be working with a reputable company that shares her values in high-quality work and sustainability.
