Understated and elegant, the landscape at Epoch Estate Winery tasting room takes the visitor on a trip to a much simpler time and place. The meticulous renovation of the original York Mountain Winery, completed in 2015, brought an updated aesthetic to a historic landmark. In the landscape, a new visitor parking area and entry path allow for the introduction of modern touches like weathered steel stairways, gravel-paved walkways and patio spaces and landscape lighting. Live Oak Trees were transplanted from within the 143 acre estate by the dozen, while rock walls, with material also sourced from on-site, reinforce the sense of history. The resulting landscape is a spectacular setting to enjoy a picnic lunch and some of the area’s finest wines.

Set in a historic farmland setting, Halter Ranch Vineyard can be identified by its beautifully restored 1880s farmhouse, just off Adelaida Road.The landscape blends the historic orchards and heritage oaks with plantings of eclectic Mediterranean and California native drifts of color and texture.

The setting is elegant, relaxed and reminiscent of older, simpler times. The new tasting room reflects this same essence, with flecks of a fresh, more youthful appearance. Both areas are the perfect spot to bring a picnic, share a bottle of phenomenal wine, and spend the afternoon soaking up the Paso Robles sunshine.

Modern Vineyard Overlook

Set on a hilltop with sweeping views of the Paso Robles wine country, this modern residence takes full advantage of the expansive setting. Landscape elements are positioned to complement the views across the valley in almost 360 degrees, while providing color and verdance in the foreground area. Waving grasses and reeds provide motion in the landscape, while agave lend a year-round modern touch within hardscape areas. Oaks will add long-term value to the design, while fruit trees planted along a slope provide annual productivity for the enjoyment of the owners and guests. The artificial turf lawn is a low-maintenance extension of the pool deck, with strong edges in keeping with the architecture.

This Madrone landscape design and installation includes an array of low-water plantings with a carefully-crafted color palette. Boulder outcrops add a natural element to the modern segmented concrete steps and paving. Existing elements were carefully incorporated into the sitewide design to maximize usability and cohesiveness.
