San Miguel Residence

San Miguel Residence

Private Residence | San Miguel, CA

This residence lies in the backcountry of San Miguel. The entry to the property features natural stone retaining walls and native plantings to create a warm welcome.

The house has large lawns for little ones to play barefoot on, as well as plenty of space for larger gatherings, in addition to a series of planters showcasing a variety of native and Mediterranean plant species.

Down below, an epic fenced-in play area is made an icon of the property. Climbing rocks, wooden playhouses, slides, and swings are shaded by large trees and cushioned by soft grasses and perennials – bringing a childhood dream to life.

Textured Oasis

Textured Oasis

Textured Oasis | Paso Robles, CA

The front yard of this landscape was transformed from an empty, barren space into a small oasis. The flagstone paving lends itself well to the natural landscape surroundings, and the urn fountain offers a delicate sound and sense of tranquility. The greens and golds found in the native plants also reflect the colors of the surrounding environment. Finally, the custom-cut steel gates finish off the elegant, natural vibe with a tree-branch style pattern.

The backyard reflects the same materials and similar feeling of an oasis, with an infinity edge pool overlooking the vast mountainous landscape.

Templeton Hills Overlook

Templeton Hills Overlook

Templeton Hills Overlook, Templeton, CA

In the hills of Templeton, this residence offers sweeping views of the surrounding hills. With dramatic grade changes, a series of retaining walls tidies the space and offers more usable area. The pavers, picked to match the retaining wall material, further complete the “finished” look of the space, while carefully selected plant materials are placed to soften the hard edge of all the block material. Finally, large boulders (selected from on-site) are used to bring greater texture and interest to the landscape.

Relaxing Xeriscape

Relaxing Xeriscape

Relaxing Xeriscape | San Luis Obispo, CA

Risen from the ashes, this home and its surroundings were once only ruins from a devastating fire. After the fire, a true rebirth occurred with the rebuilding of the house and gardens. The purpose of this garden is simple: Sit, talk, relax and renew the body and spirit. Bold drifts of color and texture define the bulk of the garden, creating islands of Olive-shaded patios for meals, parties, or for just a private sunset meditation. This landscape is reminiscent of an impressionist painting and its broad strokes are free-flowing, soft, and peaceful.
